The Appeals Committee considers and decides appeals; answers questions from US Sailing member organizations regarding interpretations of the racing rules; when requested, reviews decisions of Association Appeals Committees; publishes selected decisions of the Appeals Committee; recommends changes in the racing rules to the Racing Rules Committee; and submits US Sailing appeals for adoption by ISAF as Cases.

How to file an Appeal
The rules about appeals are in The Racing Rules of Sailing, Part 5, Section D, rules 70 and 71, and in Appendix R, a US Sailing prescription. Rule R1 explains where to file an appeal or request. All appeals are filed with US Sailing. Those that are to be considered by an Association Appeals Committee are forwarded by US Sailing to the appropriate organization. Rule R2 explains how to appeal or make a request.

If sending a fee required by rule R3.3, etiher a check can be mailed or fee paid by credit card online.
Expedited Appeals
These provisions may be used as an expedited appeals process for US Sailing Protected Competition, as defined in US Sailing Regulation 12.03 and permitted by Regulation 12.03, Section B, Procedures for Protected Competitions. Link to Document.
Ombudsman for Filing a Grievance or Appealing a Rule 69 Decision
