US Sailing and the Committee for Sailors with Disabilities has identified four great disabled sailing events that provide a great opportunity for competition:
1. 3rd Annual Robie Pierce Women’s Invitational Regatta (May 30) & 5th Annual Robie Pierce One-Design Regatta (May 31 – June 2)
Hosted by American Yacht Club (Rye, NY), these events are held in adapted Ideal 18 keelboats. www.robiepierceonedesign.com
2. 10th Annual C. Thomas Clagett Memorial Clinic and Regatta (June 27-30)
Jointly hosted by Sail Newport and Ida Lewis Yacht Club, The Clagett is sailed in Paralympic Class boats including the 2.4mR, SKUD-18 and Sonar. www.clagettregatta.org
3. North American Challenge Cup (July 26-29)
The Chicago Yacht Club and Judd Goldman Adaptive Sailing program co-host this great event using the 2.4mR, Freedom 20 and Sonar keelboats. www.chicagoyachtclub.org
4. U.S. Sailing Disabled Sailing Championships (September 5-8)
The 2013 event will be hosted by the Milwaukee Community Sailing Center and sailed in the 2.4mR, Ideal 18 and Sonar. As a new feature to this year’s event, the US Sailing Committee for Sailors with Disabilities will be awarding a perpetual traveling trophy to the Community Adaptive Sailing Program whose team places the highest over the course of these four regattas!
