PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (May 18, 2011) – US SAILING is ready to launch its inaugural Roadshow program, beginning on June 11 at Community Boating, Inc. in Boston, Mass. US SAILING’s Roadshow crew will be traveling along the east coast throughout the summer and making stops at venues from Maine to Virginia to promote sailing and interact with sailors in a variety of ways.
The US SAILING Roadshow crew, Will Ricketson (Westford, Mass.) and Brooke Thomson (Newport Beach, Calif.), is coming to yacht clubs and community sailing centers to participate at events, including regattas, junior program clinics, community outreach programs, adult learn to sail seminars, and other sailing related events as part of the summer tour.
Yacht clubs and community sailing centers host signature events every summer. US SAILING wants to learn more about these special events and use the experience to help promote the sport. The US SAILING Roadshow schedule is full of diverse sailing events. Here are just a few events we’ll be attending this summer:
June 28: Olympic Day - New Bedford, Mass. / Community Boating Center
July 1-2: Junior Olympic Festival - Hampton, Va. / Hampton Yacht Club
July 8-10: Red Grant Regatta - Perth Amboy, N.J. / Raritan Yacht Club
July 28-29: Marblehead Race Week and NOOD Regatta - Marblehead, Mass. / Corinthian Yacht Club

This Roadshow crew will make a difference at these events in a number of ways. Video, blog reports, and social media platforms will be used to share special moments from the event with the sailing community. They are certified instructors with coaching experience and can assist with learn to sail programs and clinics. At regattas, if a skipper needs crew, Brook and Will can race. The crew will provide any general support to help host organizations reach their event management and operational goals.
