PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (August 25, 2010) - Fair Wind Sailing School has joined US SAILING’s network of training certification schools. Fair Wind Sailing School currently offers certifications courses at locations in Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, and St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. Affiliation with US SAILING offers a connection to the organization’s long history of training education in the sport, and introduces students to a host of benefits to becoming members of the nation’s only sailing governing body.

“We are thrilled to upgrade our sailing curriculum by joining the premier sailing certification organization - US SAILING,” said Dave Bello, founder of Fair Wind Sailing School. “This move enables Fair Wind Sailing School to further improve our industry leading position as a top quality service provider.”

Fair Wind Sailing School instructors, like their peers at dozens of US SAILING schools across the United States, must undergo a rigorous training program to be certified to deliver curricula created by US SAILING’s National Faculty. This panel of sailing education experts draws on the most experienced sailors, educators and sailing experts in the country to constantly develop and update US SAILING’s training materials and set the standard for sailing education excellence.

“Graduates of US SAILING schools are confident with boats and can convey that confidence to passengers and family members who can feel safe in the hands of US SAILING certified sailors,” said Janine Connelly, training director of US SAILING. “We are pleased to welcome Fair Wind Sailing School into our network of schools.”

US SAILING is the nation’s premier sailing education institution. As part of US SAILING's vision to introduce as many people as possible to this great sport, we offer certification courses for instructors and coaches on a wide range of boats at varying levels of expertise.
