WHAT: U.S. Offshore Championships, sponsored by Rolex Watch U.S.A. and Predict Wind, and hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy Sailing Squadron (Annapolis, Md.), is part of US SAILING’s National Championship series. This year’s regatta will be sailed in Navy 44s on Chesapeake Bay. This is a fleet racing competition in offshore keelboats on a closed course except for one long-distance race. Teams are selected from the US SAILING Areas, plus one U.S. Naval Academy team. Each team must have competed in at least five regattas in AmeriCap, IOR, IMS, IRC, PHRF, MORC, Offshore One Design, Offshore Level Class Racing or Portsmouth Numbers rating systems in its respective Area during the current season. The winning team will be awarded the Lloyd Phoenix trophy.

Di Mattia (Quincy, Mass.), Mike Gable (Seffner, Fla.), Kenneth King (Charleston, S.C.), Bruce Kuryla (Milford, Conn.), James Prieto (Annapolis, Md.), Steve Rhyne (Seabrook, Texas), and Todd Wheatley (Los Alamitos, Calif.).
