PORTSMOUTH, R.I. (May 5, 2009) - The Downtown Sailing Center in Baltimore has joined US SAILING, the national governing body for sailing, in offering the nation’s premier sailing education experience.
“We are excited to receive accreditation as a US SAILING Certified Keelboat School,” says Steve Maddox, director of operations, Downtown Sailing Center. “The DSC has been utilizing US SAILING’s small boat program for years because of their emphasis on quality and safety. When we decided to raise the bar for our adult education programs, US SAILING’s Keelboat program was the natural choice because it is highly recognized for its national standard of excellence. Our newly certified instructors are eager to share their passion for sailing, knowing that they meet the highest standards of sailing instruction.”
Instructors at US SAILING schools across the United States, including the Downtown Sailing Center are required to undergo a rigorous training program to deliver curricula created by US SAILING’s National Faculty. This panel of sailing education experts draws on the most experienced sailors, educators and sailing experts in the country to develop and update US SAILING’s training materials and set the standard for sailing education excellence.
“Instructors who graduate through US SAILING schools have the utmost confidence with boats and can convey that confidence to passengers and family members who in return feel safe in the hands of US SAILING certified sailors,” says Hart Kelley of US SAILING. “We are pleased to welcome Downtown Sailing Center into our network of schools.”
Affiliation with US SAILING also offers a connection to US SAILING’s long history of expertise in the sport of sailing and introduces students to a host of membership benefit opportunities.
